I was in charge of key art on Sporox and it was important to get right of course as it would be the clearest and quickest draw for what was quite a mechanically complex game.
It was important to get the fact we’re in a PC, fighting bosses, are a cute mushroom, the art style is voxel/pixel/3D and that its a little spooky alongside the goofiness.
I came up with the below initial sketches and the “Antifungal” and “Inside monitor” versions were chosen by vote as seen completed below them.
